In 2019 - we were fortunate to have Dr. Scott Bowdridge as our feature speaker. Dr. Scott Bowdridge spoke at the Mountain Premier Invitational on the morning of May 12th, 2018 on Small Ruminant Parasitism. Dr. Bowdridge is a member of the American Consortium for Small Ruminant Parasite Control (www.wormx.info) and he is also an Assistant Professor of Food Animal Production at West Virginia Univeristy where he leads the West Virginia Ram & Buck Test. Dr. Bowdridge is a California native and was raised on a small sheep operation where his family raised purebred Rambouillet sheep. He received his B.S. from Cal State Chico, M.S. from the University of Maine and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. His main research interest is determining immune responses generated by different breeds of sheep to infection with Haemonchus contortus. By utilizing parasite-resistant St. Croix sheep his lab is able to compare immune responses during different stages of Haemonchus contortus infection.
Dr. Bowdridge also spoke on the research plans with the WVU Buck Test.
